Her philosophy:
“I don’t think anyone can really teach writing,”says Nancy Slonim Aronie, director of the Chilmark Writing Workshop on Martha’s Vineyard. “What I know I can do is create a safe place for writers to write. “And if you feel safe, you can do anything. You can take the risk of saying this is who I am, this is what terrifies me, this is what moves me, this is what makes me laugh. When you take that risk, you dig deep. You will access your innocence, your truth and your vulnerability and then you cannot miss.”
“You mine for gold and you find gold… honoring your own voice, writing in your own rhythms, using your own language and writing your own stories. Here is where we stop the inner critic in his tracks,” says Nancy.

I love this mind understanding with regards to full potential that writing can influence our feelings and creative abilities. Limitless nurturing when the atmosphere is open and free from all bounderies.

great presentation on WCAI this AM. In retrospect, I was too right brain, ego oriented for your course 10 years or so ago.

Hi Nancy, Thanks for calling me back. I will be volunteering at Camp Jabberwocky during that time. Let me see if I can get enough of the mornings off to participate in the workshop. Look forward to working with you, hopefully.
Best to you,
Steven Gardner

I am SO grateful to have met you and to have had the opportunity to participate in your “Coming Home to Your True Nature through the Written Word” workshop at Kripalu recently!!
I just wrote about it on my blog. I am also excited to have gotten to know the other wonderful women in our group and look forward to continuing to collaborate with them.
I have been writing my stories from your workshop onto my computer and am excited to see where they lead me next.
I hope to come to your Chilmark workshop some time too.
love,
Erika
